Curriculum Policies

The curriculum at St. Giles and St. John the Baptist is designed to provide our pupils with a broad and balanced curriculum.  We want our pupils to enjoy their learning.  We plan in opportunities for first hand experiences to complement and enhance the teaching and learning experiences of the pupils by inviting people into school and by taking the pupils on school visits to places of interest in the locality as well further afield to towns and cities.

We use the Maestro Cornerstones curriculum to map out the curriculum in art, geography, history and science.   The core concepts and key vocabulary are mapped out to ensure there is progression in learning within a topic and that the core knowledge and concepts are built upon through the curriculum.
